It has come to my attention that a number of people are searching for my views concerning a book written by Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf entitled: What's Right With Islam. What I have said in that regard is contained in four chapters of my book Unveiling Terrorism, Fundamentalism, and Spiritual Abuse: A Sufi Perspective. Those chapters are: 'Fatwa', 'Openings', 'The Two Commandments', and 'Common Roots'.
The Unveiling book is available in both real world and Kindle formats through Amazon.com (just go to the books section and type in Bill Whitehouse ... although you have to go to the Kindle store and type Bill Whitehouse to find the virtual version). The Unveiling book is also available in e-book format through Smashwords, Sony, Barnes and Noble, iBook, Kobo, and Diesel e-book stores.
The foregoing four chapters were written long before the issues surrounding Cordoba House (the so-called Ground Zero Mosque) began to arise during the last month or so. In fact, the original essays had been published through both this blog and my website four or five years ago but are no longer available through those venues in written form. My critical ideas concerning what Imam Rauf has written in his book: What's Right With Islam are quite independent of the current controversy -- although I do believe the aforementioned essays help put certain things in perspective concerning Imam Rauf.

The Sufi Path is a process of amanesis (remembrance, realization). In pre-eternity, God asked the spirits: Alastu bi Rabikum (Am I not your Lord)? When we come into this material existence, we forget about pre-eternity and the task of life is to remember our way back to the truth concerning the nature of our essential relationship with God. This process of remembering or recollecting is known as amanesis.
